Life's Essentials
“The unexamined life is not worth living” Socrates, Apology
Who are you really? What do you want out of life?
Explore/Examine-Ten critical areas that reflect the roles we play
in various facets of our lives.

Spiritual – Foundation upon which we build peace of mind and heart. “The spirit within
nourishes, and mind instilled throughout the living parts activates the whole mass and mingles with the vast frame.” Virgil
Personal –Relationship to yourselves. Improving your self image, enhancing your
creative and intellectual abilities, and shifting your attitude toward positive.
“There is no real excellence in all this world which can be separated from
right living” David Starr
Health – Related to your diet, fitness, addiction, and physical appearance. “The preservation of health is a duty. Few seem conscious that there is such a thing as physical morality,” said Herbert Spencer.
Family – Beginning, Strengthening, Clarifying, and Enhancing your relationships with
your husband, children, sibling, and parents. “No career or community
successes will compensate you adequately for failure with your family” stated
Stephen Covey.
Friendship – Deepening and Balancing relationships with old friends and building new
friendships. Aristotle stated, “A true friend is one soul in two bodies”.
Career/Vocation -Paid or Unpaid, the parent who stays home specifically to for and
educate children is practicing a career that is as equal in importance to
that of the pediatric surgeon. “Things which matter most must never
be at the mercy of things which matter least,” said Goethe.
Financial – Material Wealth and Satisfaction: present and future. Gary Ryan Blair once
said, “Making money is the by product, it should not become the sole
objective. The objective should be to provide a valuable service, to produce a
quality product that will be benefitted by others.”
Community – Social responsibilities to local and global. “I expect to pass through this
world but once. Any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I
can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not differ or
neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.” Anonymous
Household –Maintenance and Enhancement of what may well be your largest material
investment. “Family is the most important organization in society, the most
important work we will ever do will be within the walls of our homes,” said
Stephen Covey.
Recreation – Adding additional new dimension and diversity to your lifestyle. “Calmnessof mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom," stated James Allen.
